Tim Chapman admits to indecent exposure charge
"DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER" is being rocked by a new scandal that threatens to keep the show off the air permanently.
Tim Chapman, who made headlines recently for being arrested with his pants off in public, has ANOTHER shocking arrest in his past that has been hidden from fans of the show.
The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively that Tim was previously arrested and charged with indecent exposure to minors and adults. He was jailed after being observed masturbating behind a tree while watching four young women play tennis in Colorado.
THE SHOCKING CHARGES mirror Tim's most recent run-in with the law in Hawaii and are just the latest in a series of disasters to descend on the inner circle of Duane "Dog" Chapman, whose A&E reality show was suspended indefinitely after he was taped using racial slurs against his son's black girlfriend.
Tim-whom Dog refers to as his "spiritual brother" even though they are not related-was busted at a Bank of Hawaii parking lot in Honolulu on Jan. 3 after nearby mall patrons complained that a man with no pants on was "fondling himself" in a truck. When a security guard approached Chapman's truck, Chapman cursed and drove over the sidewalk, nearlystriking the security guard, and fled.
Chapman's attorney, Brook Hart, claimed his client had spilled orange juice on himself and was trying to change his clothing.
But now The ENQUIRER has discovered Chapman's previous arrest. And the case bears a striking similarity to the recent incident. In the previous arrest, which occurred in 1986, Chapman also tried to alibi his way out of trouble, saying he had gone behind the tree to urinate. But the victims, who had contacted authorities and given them Tim's licens plate number, told a different tale.
After pleading "guilty" and then "no contest" to the charges, Chapman skipped out on court-ordered community service before being jailed on Jan. 7, 1988. He was released on Beb. 23, fined court costs of $88 and was ordered to perform 24 hours of community service.
IN A HANDWRITTEN APOLOGY letter to the court, Chapman wrote: "I have learned a lesson and do not plan on seeing the inside of a jail ever again...Since my crime, I have been married, and I love my wife very much. I cannot explain why I did what I did, but I can rest easy knowing that I have worked out my problem through my wife and Jesus Christ."
Tim is currently separated from his second wife, Davina.
Marc Berman of "Mediaweek" one of America's leading TV analysts, believes the revelations about Chapman's earlier conviction for indecent exposure resulting from public masturbation could spell the end for the show on the A&E Network.
"This is serious. Remember what happned to Pee-Wee Herman. You are sending a very bad message to your audience if you support something like this.
"It's very possible this show will be taken off the air for good-and maybe it should be!
"You have to take a stand and say: "I can't have this on my network.'"
