Richard Dunbar you sound like a jealous little kid. Whaaaa!!! Dog is getting the attention! Whaaaa I am the REAL bounty hunter, not Dog! Whaaaa I beat him in court ooooooo really neat-o man. No one ever heard of you Dunbar. Get over your jealousy. Ralph Thorson (another famous bounty hunter) was regarded as an outlaw type also, and he never went through the licsensing process you had to go through (did that make him non-legit too?). Read Tommie Ponder's website about Thorson and his methods.
"In addition to his law enforcement activities, Tommie worked as a bounty hunter in Los Angeles and was partnered with the legendary Ralph "Papa" Thorson (subject of the motion picture "The Hunter" starring Steve McQueen).
Tommie and Ralph, who were close friends as well as business partners, made quite a team. Tommie, the young, steady, and technically-oriented half, worked by the book and by the letter of the law, guided by a strict moral and professional code. In contrast, Ralph--older, heavyset, and extremely intuitive--was equal parts social worker, biker, and "Old West Gunfighter".
Tommie's forte as a bounty hunter was locating people often using the telephone and information systems, while Ralph ("the mean old man" as Tommie referred to him) relied heavily on astrological charts and the overwhelmingly persuasive power inherent in a double-barreled shotgun. Their numerous life and death adventures in the U.S. and abroad are tributes to a special kind of spirited teamwork, coupled with highly developed personal control and individual strength of will."
Ralph "Papa" Thorson was also a wanted man in Mexico [sound like anyone else we know?]. He used to go there frequently and snatch jumpers. He had in his possesion a valuable revolver:
"... a .45 caliber with nickel-plated one with hand carved silver grips. The .45, according to Guadelajara, Mexico, officials who have placed a price on Papa's head, will be his ransom if they ever pick him up. In the event that happens, Dotty [Thorson's girlfriend at the time] has instructions to bring the revolver to a prearranged rendezvous spot on the Mexican border near San Luis where she will exchange it for Papa. As much as those Mexicans hate Papa they love the .45 more." (Keane, The Hunter, pg 42, 1975).
Or did you hate Thorson too because he had a book written about him, was considered a wanted man in Mexico, and had a movie made about him? So far, your biggest claim to fame was that you were there when something happened to Dog Chapman. Sounds like you owe Dog some thanks, eh?
Should I have typed this in ALL CAPS AND MISPELLED HALF OF THE WORDS?
