I thought you were looking for the articles on the other 2 defense witnesses... That last articles just brings up one more of the things that make ya' go hmmmm... It doesn't seem he fought it at all. He had a life sentence. He could probably have asked for asylum or something.

My understanding was an illegal visa. Mexico won't extradite to a country if you will get the death penalty, since he only had 124 years (death), they let him go and kicked him out.

It's not just the death penalty. Mexico will hold on to them if it's a LIFE sentence as well. Read the 2nd article. No way of knowing whether Luster or his cracker jack lawyer knew that at the time.

Stage,
What I was getting at was if he was facing a life or death sentence, he would have had a better chance of fighting extradition.

----- still looking but here is one more, about the problem in mexico. Dolores G. Hays Whittier
U.S. fugitives in Mexico
The editorial about U.S. fugitives in Mexico (June 24) is an issue which our government must address as soon as possible. Last week I wrote Rep. Gary Miller a letter concerning this very issue.
I think it is ridiculous that the Mexican government knowingly allows a man suspected of murdering Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy David March to live in Mexico with no fear of being extradited back to the United States to face trial for the murder he is accused of.
The fact is the man suspected of murdering Deputy March is one of 60 murder suspects who are wanted in Los Angeles County alone. In fact, 150 suspects wanted for murder, rape and child molestation throughout the United States are safely living in Mexico.
The Mexican government does not believe we treat fairly criminals who are convicted of these crimes because these criminals may face the death penalty or life in prison. These are punishments we as Americans see fit for those convicted of these crimes.
If the Mexican government does not want U.S. fugitives in their country, extradite them back to our country to face trial for the crimes they are accused of regardless of the punishment the criminals face.
President Bush, our senators and several members of Congress are aware of this problem. Hopefully they can work with Mexico's President Vicente Fox and resolve this problem in a timely manner.
Deputy March's family and the 149 other families deserve to see justice served.
Mario R. Cuevas Whittier

It's not just LIFE, it's LIFE in M-A-X-I-M-U-M security for a FIRST offense. He's in there with the worst there are, the sickest sadistic serial killers like Richard Ramirez. Even if he were guilty, it's draconian. The punishment should fit the crime. I heard he was in isolation and that's where he will stay. I don't know if it's true. It seems like it'd probably be safer, but it's still life in f'ing box like an animal!
