Cops to Dog's Bro: Keep Your Pants On!
Posted Jan 5th 2008 10:30AM by TMZ Staff
Police in Hawaii arrested Tim Chapman -- brother of Duane "Dog" Chapman -- after he was spotted naked in his pickup truck. Those bounty hunters are always packing!
A mall security guard found Chapman, sans clothes, and asked him to get out of the truck. Police say that after he got dressed, Chapman started his truck and drove over a sidewalk, nearly hitting the security. He turned himself in five hours later.
The guard told police he recognized Chapman from his show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter," and said Chapman was performing an unspecified lewd act.
But Tim's attorney, Brook Hart, has an explanation for the whole thing: "It was simply a man who wet his pants with orange juice inadvertently and was changing them, doing nothing wrong at all and believing he had sufficient privacy to do it."

Bounty hunter Timothy Chapman was reportedly caught with his pants down -- literally -- at a Honolulu shopping center parking lot.
Prosecutors charged Chapman with first-degree terroristic threatening yesterday and might also charge him with indecent exposure, a spokesman for the Honolulu prosecutor's office said.
Police said security guards recognized Chapman from the reality television series "Dog the Bounty Hunter" when they responded to a report of a man fondling himself in a vehicle at an Ala Moana Center parking lot at about 9 p.m. Thursday.
Instead of stepping out of the vehicle as requested, Chapman got into the driver's seat of his truck and jumped a curb onto the sidewalk toward a security guard before driving away, said Jim Fulton, spokesman for the city prosecutor's office.
Chapman, 42, turned himself in yesterday and was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and indecent exposure.
Terroristic threatening is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years' imprisonment. Indecent exposure is a petty misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of 30 days.
His lawyer, Brook Hart, said the incident was a "massive misunderstanding."
Hart said Chapman spilled juice or soda on his pants and went to the back seat of his Dodge Ram truck, which has dark tinted windows, to change his pants when security guards started yelling at him.
He said Chapman, to avoid negative publicity, made the mistake of attempting to drive away.
"It was simply a man who wet his pants with orange juice inadvertently and was changing them, doing nothing wrong at all and believing he had sufficient privacy to do it," Hart said.
Chapman was released on $11,000 bail last night.
Chapman works with Duane "Dog" Chapman and is a co-star on the reality television show. Even though they share the same last name, they are not related.
A&E television network put the Chapman show on hold indefinitely in early November after the release of a private phone conversation in which Duane Chapman repeatedly used a racial slur to describe his son's girlfriend.

Reality TV show star arrested

One of the stars of the reality TV show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" was arrested today on suspicion of attempted murder and indecent exposure.
Tim Chapman, who works alongside Duane "Dog" Chapman as a bounty hunter, turned himself in to Honolulu police this afternoon.
The arrest stems from an incident last night in an Ala Moana parking lot.
Last night, Ala Moana Center security guards were notified that a naked man was performing lewd acts in his pick-up truck in the Bank of Hawaii parking lot.
Police say a security guard approached the truck, told the man to put on his clothes then get out of his vehicle.
Police say the man put on his clothes, then started up his truck, hopped the sidewalk, almost hitting the security guard. He then took off.
The security guard recognized the driver as Tim Chapman from the hit reality show "Dog the Bounty Hunter."
"It seems funny to me they would so something like this. I hope it's not true," said Larry Gardiner, a "Dog the Bounty Hunter" fan.
Police checked Tim Chapman's Hawaii Kai home, but were told he's separated from his wife and has been living out of his truck.
Then around 2:30 this afternoon, Tim Chapman turned himself in to Honolulu police.
Chapman's attorney Brook Hart says it's all a misunderstanding.
"Tim Chapman was driving in the Ala Moana, Kapioplani Blvd. area when he inadvertently spilled some orange juice, orange drink or liquid in his lap, and he got all wet so looked for a place for some privacy," said Brook Hart, Tim Chapman's attorney.
Hart says Tim Chapman was not performing lewd acts.
"He was merely changing from one pants to another when a security guard came and yelled at him to get out of his car. Tim panicked and drove over the curb and left the area," said Hart.
Tim Chapman was booked on suspicion of indecent exposure, and attempted murder for nearly running over the security guard. Although, police say he may be charged with terroristic threatening instead.
Tim Chapman remains at the Honolulu Police Department's main cell block tonight, pending charges.
